Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students are unique in their personalities and background but deeply connected in their commitment to learning more about the world and discovering their role in it.
My students are active learners invested in working together in creative ways to share what they are learning and truly teach others.
They share a deep interest in the world and make the most of every learning activity I provide to them, and even better they work together to create their own enriching experiences.
My Project
My students are about to embark on a unit about breaking barriers in sports. As I look around the classroom I do not see any books on this topic that features characters that represent the diversity of my students. I want to provide them with stories they can connect with and learn from. This set of books would be used for book clubs so small groups can dig deep into the literature and the whole class can benefit from presentations they will put together. I want students to not just learn how other people break barriers, but become inspired to do so themselves.
