Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I teach 40 amazing and academically gifted elementary scholars. They enter my classroom with big smiles, are happy, and are ready to learn. Many students that come to our school do not speak English. We also have exceptional students included in our class.
We are a Global Magnet, Title I school serving 65% of low-income families who speak limited English.
We offer Mandarin Chinese and Spanish to our students. Our school also serves families whose parents work multiple jobs to help make ends meet.
My Project
Having African American books in my classroom library will help students appreciate the color of their skin. I want students to read and learn about people of all colors. We need elementary students to experience authors who look like them as authors.
Books of color will help increase students' engagement when reading about people that look exactly like them.
I also would like to add face masks to help keep all students and teachers safe while attending in-person learning.
Thanks in advance for helping my students read and learn about kids and adults that look like them. We also want to remain safe while in school.
