My Project

I teach in a school that is culturally and linguistically diverse. My 2nd graders are kind and inquisitive little human beings who thrive on opportunities to move and express their creativity, emotions, and energy. We are often singing, dancing, and making art as well as working on the core subjects of reading/language arts and math. There is a lot of joy in my classroom!

Besides building the foundational and higher critical thinking skills children need to be good readers, creating a culture of literacy in my classroom also has so much to do with instilling a thirst for reading - and providing the resources to quench that thirst.

At the beginning of this year, I noticed my students gravitated to specific titles, including the Who Would Win? series by Jerry Pallotta, and the Dragon Masters series. Although I had a few of these books on hand in my classroom library, I realized how wonderful it would be if I could make the entire collection available to them!

Many of my books are over 20 years old, so my library could certainly use a considerable refresh. With your support, my students can have updated titles they would be excited to read, and which would satisfy their curiosity about the worlds of science and fantasy.
