Help me give my students diverse books to read that reflect their identities.
FULLY FUNDED! Ms. Brickey's classroom raised $593

My Students
I have a very dynamic group of 7th and 8th graders for ELA this year. They come from diverse backgrounds from all over the world. In ELA we get a chance to read about and explore a variety of ideas, discuss them in-depth, and write about them.
My task this year is to foster my students' lives as both readers and writers.
I am excited about the opportunity to guide their growth this year in ELA. It's going to be a great year.
My Project
The students that fill my classroom are very diverse. They represent a number of different languages, religions, nationalities, ethnicities, and cultures. I want to provide books in our classroom library that reflect their identities and experiences. I also want to broaden their understanding of people that are different from them.
Bolstering our classroom library with these amazing books will support my students understanding of others.
It will also allow them to connect to characters that they have traits in common with.
My students seek out books that they can connect to and read them! Unfortunately, books are not indestructible. They get rained on, fall into the hands of younger siblings, wear out, and sometimes get lost. Please help me replenish my classroom library with high-interest books that my students will love.
