My Students

I teach sixth-grade English Language Arts in New Orleans, Louisiana. I help students discover their skills as critical readers of the world around them. I help them use their voices to change the narratives that have been written about them and inform their own identities.

I teach students who come from all over the city of New Orleans based on a promise to get them to and through college.

I teach predominantly students of color who receive free and reduced price lunch and travel long distances to attend our school. I believe in our national promise to educate all of America's children to the best of our abilities.

My Project

Many of my students have requested copies of "Amulet" and "Dork Diaries" for our classroom library. Students fell in love with these series in previous grades and can't wait to read the next installment in each series. Many sixth-graders use graphic novels as a way to fall in love with reading. Help put these two popular series in the hands of kids who can't wait to read them.

Many different students are drawn to these books.

Dork Diaries is popular among the young ladies with its themes of romance, drama, and friendship. Amulet is an adventure-based graphic novel series with compelling characters and plot twists.

Ms. Kuhbach KIPP Believe College Prep Grades 6-8

Celebrate Black teachers and kids! This project supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of students are Black.
