My Students are in fourth grade and I would like them to become amazing wild readers. They need to be surrounded by books that capture their attention to build their reading stamina and enthusiasm for reading. Giving students a choice in their books also helps them to develop a voice in writing. The goal is to create lifelong readers always searching for their next book.
"There is no such thing as a child who hates to read; there are only children who have not found the right book" —Frank Serafini.
My students need books to read to escape and to become introduced to more vocabulary, about 25 percent of my students are considered below grade level in vocabulary and phonics.
My Project
A large, varied collection of refreshed books in a classroom library is a vital ingredient in creating lifelong readers.
The resources from this project will help create a reading library that is inviting, interesting and diverse.
My students need choices and with the purchase of these new books, they will be transported into a whole new world.
Students will not have to wait a week to get to a library to find a new book. The books will be in bins surrounding them and calling to them all day long. They can shop for books right in the classroom. New bookshelves have been made by our high school students and are waiting to be filled.
