My Students

As a teacher in a low-income, high-poverty school district, I work with students in an ICT (integrated co-teaching) setting who are faced with several challenges both in and out of the classroom. Despite the many challenges they face, I am looking for a way children can extend their education in the classroom.

Education is the key to the future for tomorrow's leaders.

Learning is better when there are more materials to go around. My students come to school ready to learn, but they need the appropriate classroom resources in order to deepen their knowledge. My school has very limited resources due to budget cuts. Materials needed to effectively teach a lesson are scarce, and the requested items will help tremendously.

My Project

The flex-space mobile cart will be used for my independent and guided reading books. My classroom library books are organized in bins by reading levels A to M based on the Fountas and Pinnell reading level chart. Having the books organized will be setting my students up for success.

My students will be able to independently go to the mobile cart and choose a book based on their reading level.

My students will read independently or in guided reading groups. Independent reading and guided reading allows students to practice and consolidate effective reading strategies. My students will develop greater control over the reading process through the development of reading strategies that assist in decoding and construct meaning.

Having the books organized by different levels will lift students' learning beyond the walls of the classroom with high-quality text.
