My Project

My students enter Kindergarten and quickly realize the differences in comparison to Pre-K, "no nap?! Where's dramatic play?!" They are amazing! They take a breath, learn the routines and procedures and jump into the magic of Kindergarten.

We read so many books together throughout the year.

We have a classroom library and visit the neighborhood library once each month during the school year to instill a love of books and reading. By reading together students are able to solidify concepts of print - where to begin reading, reading left to right, turning one page at a time, and so much more. Students are able to gain meaning from text and ask and answer questions as we read and share interpretations of the author and illustrator's work. The books included in this project are many the district selected to support the themes as well as supplementary texts.
