Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Our student live in a sort of literacy desert! While we ARE located in the desert Southwest physically, our students experience a book desert too! We are a small rural school district with a total of 720 students in prek-12th grade. 270 of those students are enrolled in our elemenary campus. While we do have a robust school library, we do not have access to a comunity library. The majority of our students are hispanic and many of them are bilingual.

We are working on creating a rich literacy culture, but most of our students do not have access to very many books that they can call their own.

Our goal is to put more books in our students hands. Books that they can call their own! This project will help us accomplish that objective. Please join us in making it happen!
