My Project

"Do you have any more mysteries???"

My middle school students are begging for mysteries, and we need more copies of the most popular and newest mysteries to feed their desire!

It's my mission to help every one of my 150 7th and 8th graders find books they love. They've told me they want mysteries and the small selection we have in class is flying off the shelves.

You know the feeling of getting sucked into a great who-dun-it. It turns a books from effort into obsession. Middle school is a tricky time to keep books in students' hands: we're fighting cell phones, social distractions, and diminishing attention spans. But students need to see themselves as readers to prepare their vocabularies, background knowledge, and stamina for the intense reading demands of high school and beyond.

Mysteries are one of the most accessible and fun genres for my 12-14 year old students to fall into and transform daily reading from punishment into prime time.

There's nothing better than a student actually struggling to put away their book. Please help put more page-turning mysteries into students' ready hands!
