My Project

These non-fiction books will enhance our print-rich classroom. Our library is a lovely place where we gather to enjoy time together. Every book in our library is treated with love and care. They have been chosen with the help of my students, and many have been requesting more non-fiction books for their independent reading time. This is music to my ears!

With these new books, my students will be able to choose from a variety of titles that will allow them to read independently at their own grade level.

They will also be able to choose books that interest them. The best way to increase reading ability is to read more, and these books will continue to help my students grow stronger as readers. My students already have shown an astonishing interest in independent reading, and this project will only help enrich their experiences with the printed word.

I can't wait to pass out the mirrors. All students must know their letter sounds and for some this is difficult. Using the mirrors when introducing a new sound will allow the students to examine and discuss what the lips, tongue, and teeth are doing when making the sound we are focusing on. The is so beneficial and the kids love it.

The pretzels and skittles are given out during independent reading time. Everyone loves to snack while they read. After my students find a comfortable place to curl up with a book I walk around and conference with each student and drop off a little snack as I move along from student to student.
