My Students

My school has a diverse group of learners. There are families from different socioeconomic backgrounds, as well as ethnic backgrounds. As an equity leader for my students, I want to provide a positive learning environment for them. We often talk about books using a platform of windows and mirrors to discuss characters in books. A window is when we learn about someone different from ourselves, and a mirror is a connection with someone in a story.

My Project

My students share diverse backgrounds but all have something in common. They love books that inspire them. Help my students look at themselves as leaders in their school and community. Amanda Gorman has written beautiful and thoughtful words for my 4th and 5th graders to absorb and discuss.
