My Students

I work in a public, nationally certified STEM elementary school in 5th grade. I share three classes of kids that are amazing wonderers! Many of the kids have been with each other since they began their school careers and have formed great bonds with each other.

I want to have diverse characters represented through the books available in my classroom library and used for reading aloud in my lessons.

Our campus values facilitating the kids' growth in being Persistent, Solution Focused, Service Minded, and Adaptable. There are so many lessons like this that can be learned from characters that look like all of my students, not just some.

As of 5th graders, we really work on building the skills to be successful in their middle school classes, but I want to start building their success as kind and accepting adults, too.

My Project

These materials will help students read in all ways! There are books for them to enjoy on their own, books for me to read to them from, and books for me to teach with.

I can't wait to get more books into their hands and discuss all the ways we can learn from them.

There are also materials to help me organize their reading stations. The book boxes will help me keep personalized reading group materials organized and available. The bins will help transport station materials with ease while I travel between classes.
