My Students

This is a very trying and stressful time during the pandemic. Many of the students in my classroom have missed many days of school due to the days off of school during Covid. I have many students in my classroom who are different reading levels due to a loss of instructional time over the past year. The students in my classroom are learning at a very wide range from pre-kindergarten level to above grade level. I want to help prepare my students for their upcoming year in 3rd grade; however many of my students are unable to read on grade level 2nd grade work. I have to differentiate my lessons and materials in order for my students to feel successful. While we are in the classroom, I want to not only teach my student the standards and objectives for 2nd grade, but also present them with a variety of genres that interest them and they can feel successful reading independently.

My Project

Many of my students read and learn on different ability levels. During the pandemic, many of my students fell behind on their time spent reading and lost instructional time on phonics, phonemeic awareness and vocabulary. These Step Into Reading books will help my students feel successful.

I am requesting leveled reader books which will allow my students to read independently and in small groups and enjoy going on adventures.

These pirate treasure chest will hold the different leveled readers and once a child has mastered one level of the books, they may open another treasure box and go on another adventure with their new books.

Some of the books that come with our reading series are the same theme, these books will allow my students to read fun and adventurous books that they are familiar with! These "Step Into Reading" books will meet the individual learning needs of all of my students. These books will help my students feel successful as readers!
