Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Books will help our school garden grow! How-to books, wonderful stories, and books to support our English Language Learners understand and use new vocabulary are what our school library needs to help our school garden flourish.

Our school serves 500+ children, pre-k-5th grade, who are largely English Language Learners.

We're at over 90% free and reduced lunch in a rural area of North Carolina. Our school library tries to meet our students' needs by providing rich resources in English and Spanish. Our kids are bright, motivated, and eager to learn!

My Project

Our school is creating a student-run garden so that kids can make the connection between growing food and eating food. Our school library would like to purchase books about gardening to inspire kids and help them make connections between their activities in the garden, the classroom, reading, and their lives.

In a time of massive budget cuts, this will allow our school library to support a special, fantastic project that will help our kids make connections between the earth, our environment, the curriculum, and the food they eat.
