This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
Hello to all! I am currently a second grade teacher to the best second graders anyone could ask for! I teach at a low-income elementary school in southwest Atlanta, and I am so fortunate to serve students who are so eager to learn. They are determined to beat the odds, and they come to school every day with an energy that is positive and pursuant of all dreams. Any teacher would be delighted to teach them.
I work diligently to ensure that they are receiving the rigorous, hands-on learning that they deserve.
We incorporate STEM in our curriculum so that students are submerged into innovative activities to learn skills needed to keep up with our growing world. I look forward to exposing my students to new experiences. Please help us have a successful academic year!
My Project
Reading is fundamental and it sets the foundation for learning. Having these books in our classroom, exposes the students to chapter books and gives them an opportunity to raise their lexile levels. It challenges them to become better at fluency and comprehension while enjoying these comical stories.
As we read these book together as a class, I am positive it will create stronger readers.
My students have an extremely high interest in reading, and by having these books in addition to many others, I am hoping this will continue to grow throughout the school year. They will be greatly appreciated and used for years and years to come.
