My Students

The students in my 4th/5th combo class are nothing shy of amazing! As we face distance learning they are stepping up and working hard to learn and progress in their grade! If I could describe my students in five words they would be: authentic, engaging, energetic, problem-solvers, and community-minded. Although some students in my class are homeless, do not have access to quality internet, and often having to be independent with their studies, they are showing up EVERYDAY with a smile, open-heart, and desire to learn and engage! There are times when I can't hear them speaking and we can only chat. Other times when technology fails them or zoom drops their call. Through it all my students are persevering and building character. I desire for each one of my kiddos to have access to a high quality education, even while we distance teach!

My Project

As we now face distance learning my students have little to no access to quality chapter books! My students love to read independently but digital books are getting old and the constant screen time is difficult. With actual books they can get cozy at their home and continue learning to be book lovers! Every student book that is purchased will be distributed to one student, once they finish they will turn the book back in and exchange it for a new book! All of these books have been chosen with my students in mind. I have watched them the past few weeks of school enjoy reading with me and they have told me titles of books they like reading or are interested in reading.

With these new books, my students will be able to choose from a variety of books that will allow them to read independently at their own grade level.
