My Students

I teach 4th Grade at an extremely high-poverty school in Middle Tennessee. I teach to many backgrounds including many ESL students, non-English speaking children, homeless students, and many that considered high-at-risk-students.

One of my goals in teaching is to give students access to books to go along with our curriculum for them to read independently to build knowledge about figurative heart (bravery, courage) and the literal heart!

My Project

We use Wit and Wisdom as our reading curriculum. I want my students to be able to build their knowledge to go along with our modules of studies. I want students to have access to books to read independently on topics we cover or books of the same or similar authors. I’m wanting to create bins students can access with books to grab while reading our modules. We have 4 modules throughout the year and some of the modules go along with social studies. Having access to these books will hopefully build their knowledge of the curriculum, but encourage independent reading! Our first module is about the literal heart, but also having a figurative heart!
