Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students in our integrated co-teaching classroom in the Bronx, New York are motivated and thrive to achieve their goals, but often tend to become discouraged because of the lack of resources.

My students love to be engaged through a variety of topics and in exciting new ways, especially through reading books.

With a maximum of 32 students per class, resources are treasured but limited. Many books within our classroom are not of great quality or content. Most of the books in our classroom library are torn, aged, unpopular, and of disinterest to my students. Blessing us with the gift of books will allow my students to have the opportunity to explore and engage with books limitlessly.

My Project

I am requesting 3 sets of 20 books and 1 set of 7 books for our classroom library. These sets of books are inclusive, diverse, and will broaden the options my students will be able to choose from in our classroom library.

The variety of the genres will entice, motivate, and captivate my students to become life-long readers and learners.

This project will help develop our current classroom library with new and relevant books my students have been longing to read.

With such a diverse community of learners, having new, popular, engaging, and relevant books will allow my students to develop more love for reading, therefore become better readers.
