Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are creative and curious children who are attending school like never before. The students in my class use devices to log into morning meetings and Google Classroom to participate in our day-to-day activities. The children have come together to form a kind community with each child exploring, ”Who am I?” For many of the children, this class is their first experience in school.

Together with parents and caregivers, they are exploring curriculum and learning through synchronous and asynchronous activities.

Many students do not have limited access to technology and supplies. Through our screen time and lessons, we learn SEL and explore our home environments, our communities, and ourselves.

My Project

My students are curious learners who are developing a love of reading. A great way to continue this skill is through a free library share where students can have access to new books and materials simply by visiting the outside of the school building. A free library would allow blended and remote students alike an opportunity to learn and receive new books to help their decoding and fluency skills. As an early childhood teacher, I share a new story with my class each day and encourage families to read together at home. This project would make it possible!
