My Project

In our High School Early College, we have an organization called the BLM Taskforce. One of the events we hold annually for the school is the Black Author Book Fair.

During this event, we provide books to the student body that are written by Black authors that touch on different intersectionalities our students hold.

It has been a great way for students to pick up free books, read more and learn about cultures and aspects of identity that they either hold or have never themselves experienced.

In collaboration with our affinity clubs Black Student Union, La Furze Undid, Sexuality and Gender Alliance, and the Muslim Student Association we insure that all of our students are represented in the books we provide. This has always been a fulfilling and popular event for our students who love to embrace the inclusive and welcoming nature of our school. This is what makes our students so special; they always have a drive to learn more, whether it's about themselves or others. The book fair has been a great way to foster that drive.
