This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

This is the first year I've assembled auxiliary reading materials into binders that my bands have practiced their sight reading from on a weekly basis. I'm happy to report that it's been an extremely effective strategy for improving their overall musical literacy. Additionally, we've been so productive this year that the bands are on track to finish the reading binders by the end of this academic year. Unfortunately, that creates a bit of a challenge for those students who would like to continue on in the band program next year, as they will have an appetite for more difficult reading material by then. This necessitates the compilation and assembly level 2 reading binders. By funding this project, you will be facilitating the band's acquisition of the skills they will need in order to thrive when they advance to the high school level.
