Help Mrs. S.

I teach in a 5th grade inclusion classroom. I work with ESE students in a general education classroom. I am very lucky because I get to work with the same students from last year! My student's disabilities range from learning disabled to autistic.

Going green at my house is extremely important to me. Our school does not recycle and the children are not aware of all the waste they consume on a day to day basis. In addition, children are exposed to toxic chemicals daily either from cleaning supplies or buying foods containing high levels of hormones or pesticides. It is my goal to teach students the importance of gardening and eating organic foods. In addition students will be making their own cleaning supplies for the classroom that are non toxic. I hope that they will learn how to make natural products that are safe for them and the environment.

In order to make this a success, I really need some books that will educate them more on the topic they are learning. In addition we need some books to use as a resource for both the children and I to help make our garden a success and to be sure we are creating safe non toxic cleaners for the school.

It is so important of the children of today to learn how to impact the environment in a positive way. I believe with this donation I will be given the opportunity to really change the lives of many of my students and their families. As stated above my students are special needs children. I believe that teaching them and their families about non toxic materials and organic foods it may help them in their day to day activities. My students are sweet loving children that will make a HUGE difference in our community during our green effort. Thank you for taking the time to read about our project! We hope you can make a contribution to making our classroom GREEN!
