My Students

My students are an amazing group of third graders. They are enthusiastic about school and embrace everything we do in class. They love reading, P.E., math, and science. Our school is a kindergarten through eighth grade school located in rural California. It houses 450 students. Our school is surrounded by forests and mountains and has daily visitors such as geese, turkeys, and deer.

Our school has a strong academic culture.

I want to maintain our strength in this area by continuing to provide materials to enrich my students' experiences.

My Project

My students need more books for our 40 book challenge. This year my students are required to read 40 books in different assigned genres which range from picture books to historical fiction chapter books. Our classroom library is lacking books in a few categories such as biography. I have ordered a few new titles by Brad Metzer in the biography genre. Currently, I have a few of Metzer's other titles, and my students love his books. I am adding the rest of Metzer's titles to our collection so we have enough books for students to reach their goals.

I have also requested books in the Heidi Hecklebeck series.

Quite a few of my students have taken a liking to this series while trying to fulfill their realistic fiction genre requriements. I unfortunately only had two of the Heidi Hecklebeck books so I am now trying to complete the set.
