My students need a wide variety of leveled books to add variety to our classroom library, including books from the Nate the Great series and the Junie B. Jones series.
Dear Donor,
Hi, I am a third grade teacher at a public school in Brooklyn, NY. This year about 86% of our students receive free lunch. Our good school is working towards becoming great, but we need your help.
In our classroom we have great things to offer the students. It's warm and inviting so the kids feel comfortable and welcomed. I've put comfortable pillows on the classroom rug so the kids can have a cozy place to curl up with a good book (at the appropriate time). We have a mat in the meeting area so my kids know where story time takes place, yet I feel like my classroom is lacking lower grade level books that would accommodate my struggling readers. I want my kids to love reading, but without fun and entertaining books they can read, it's almost impossible to spark that love into them. I want my kids to be confident, fluent readers, but without a leveled library that meets their needs it becomes quite difficult. I am asking for a combination of first, second grade and early third grade books to meet the needs of some of the students that teeter between becoming good students and great students. Please help me help them be great.
