Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

My school had a 30% increase in enrollment in one calendar year. Most of those students speak Spanish at home.

Providing classic children's books in Spanish will allow students to feel that they are participants of their school community while providing scaffolding that can be applied to their academic and personal lives.

Many students who arrived at our school last year did so after months of on-foot travel with their families. Some students experienced traumatic events, leading to insecurities regarding food, shelter, clothes, and overall safety. We aim to make all students feel not only safe, but welcomed and celebrated as part of our school community.
