My Students

I teach a fun, active group of 25-second graders. They love to learn and work together. In second grade, we learn a lot of new skills every day. These students are eager to learn and apply their skills every day!

My students are on a variety of levels in the classroom.

They need engaging ways to practice the skills they are missing. My students that are reading above level need engaging ways to challenge their brains!

They need new and exciting experiences to keep them engaged in our curriculum. I like to provide them with experiences that will immerse them in the learning and teach them about the world we live in.

My Project

Second grade is a vital time in a child's journey to becoming life long readers. They need high quality books to develop a love of reading. These picture books are books that were requested by students. These will help engage them in reading.

Books can help us process our emotions and feelings in a healthy way.

Many of these books are Social Emotional Learning focused. These books show characters processing and feeling things that student's are also going through. The books will let children see someone responding to emotions or actions in a healthy way. They can then apply the things in these books in their own lives. These books cover topics from feeling worried, feeling angry, having wiggles, and having a growth mindset. These will help us talk about things in an engaging and age appropriate way!
