Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

A chain reaction of support starts with one share.
The students at my school are creative, passionate, and curious. We serve a diverse population and are part of a diversity pilot project in NYC. We strive to maintain a racial, ethnic, and economic mix because we believe that integration and equal access benefit everyone. Students with special learning needs are fully integrated into the classroom, and everyone's learning benefits as a result.
We teach a class of 26 beautiful children, each of whom is on a unique reading journey.
As we get to know them and try to match them with books for independent reading, we are realizing our classroom library is in need of a glow-up.
Some of our students have recently immigrated to New York from Spanish-speaking countries. We need lots of Spanish-language books so they can preserve their home language and continue enjoying age-appropriate literature.
Many of our students have come to reading through a love of graphic novels, and are just starting to branch out into beginning chapter books and series. With these delicious new books, we will tempt them into exploring new genres, authors, and series.
