I teach first grade in Gardena, California. This is an impoverished suburb of Los Angeles. We are a Title I, low-performing school in desperate need of resources. My students are bright, energetic and ready to learn!

Our allotted school library time is only an hour per month; therefore, my students can only check out 2 books per month. This is not enough for them to get in adequate reading time at home. Our parents do not have the resources to purchase books, nor the time to visit the public library.

Children love holidays, so I know they will enjoy books about celebrations. Half the battle with children and reading is getting their curiosity piqued. My goal is to have a variety of books that they can check out whenever they'd like to read in class or at home.

We buy our children candy for many holidays - why not start a new tradition and get them books? I know they would be thrilled. Your generous donation would make such a difference! Thank you for your interest and time.
