My Students

I teach 3rd grade Language Arts to a group of 40 wonderfully diverse learners. One thing they all have in common - they are eager learners who love to read!

My hope as a teacher, is to nurture this love of learning and reading in my kiddos so that it becomes life-long.

Each day, my students meet in small guided reading groups to read books on their individual reading level. It is my goal to provide them with rich, meaningful literature that is of interest to them. With a limited selection of books on campus from which to choose, and personal and campus budget restraints, it is difficult to purchase the books my students need.

By having this project funded, I can provide my students with more options for guided reading as well as for book clubs. This will also provide them access to both fiction and non-fiction books, which will enable them to build their reading comprehension and discuss their learning in small groups.

This project will make a world of difference to my budding readers!

My Project

Third grade is the year that many children begin to explore the world of chapter books. My goal is to foster that curiosity by providing my students with a great variety of books to delve into. I am requesting novel sets with multiple copies of each title to be used in guided reading groups and book clubs. With multiple copies per title, this will enable us to use them in small groups so that each student has their own book to read from.

These books will enhance my students' learning by building their reading stamina and going deeper with their reading comprehension.

Having multiple copies of these books will allow my kids to read them together, have discussions with their peers, and reflect with one another once they've finished reading.

Thank you for your support of this project!
