My Project

My students love books and as a first-year, 6th-grade teacher I want to make sure they have as many to read as possible. Last year in my 8th-grade classroom my classroom library became a place my students could find themselves. They enjoyed reading books with diverse characters, rich life journeys, and topics that focused on the middle school experience. I want to make sure my 6th-graders have that same experience in my classroom. The more you read, the more you grow academically, emotionally, personally, and creatively. The books on this list are a mix of ones I think my students will enjoy, ones my former students suggested to me, and some that fill a void in my current classroom library.

I believe that one of my biggest goals in teaching is to create students who become lifelong readers.

And the only way to do that is to make sure I can provide them with as many books to read as possible. So help me make that a reality.
