Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My wonderful second graders love reading - especially graphic novels, superhero books and joke books. They are caring, creative and hard-working. They are eager to fluently add and subtract. They love conducting science experiments Their eyes light up when they are engaged in learning experiences.

Please, help make our classroom into the organized and supportive learning environment my students so desperately need.

For many of my students, the classroom is a place to escape into a nurturing, supportive environment. Almost all of them come from low income households. Many of them have experienced trauma in their lives and have difficulty coming to school. Once they are in the classroom we work as hard asa possible to create a nurturing space that will help them live up to their potential and be happy, healthy and successful.

My Project

Young people need high level reading skills that will help them distinguish fact from alternative fact. For reluctant readers, high interest nonfiction books can open the door to a lifetime of reading enjoyment and help them develop critical thinking abilities. Moreover, books about animals help kids develop a love of nature.

Help my future scientists bloom into responsible global citizens who will care for and protect our planet.

By reading and learning about their favorite animals my students will better understand the natural world and the challenges facing Mother Nature. These books will help my students become confident readers and lifelong learners. I am requesting a wide range of titles from National Geographic Kids.
