Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

While my students enjoy reading in my class, many do not have children’s books or literacy materials available in their homes. I would like to give my students books to start (or add) to their home libraries. I would love to give my students some of this years' class favorites such as books by Mo Willems, Leo Lionni, and Jerry Pinkney.

As reading is difficult for all of my students, I hope these books will encourage them to practice reading skills (that they have worked so hard to develop) over winter break.

I plan to wrap each book and then give to students to take home the week prior to winter break. Hopefully these books will give my students a positive literary experience they can share with their families.
