Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

I have started a graphic novel club after school. Graphic novels are stories that are written in a comic book format. This is extremely helpful for students who are learning English as a second language and our reluctant readers-kiddos who struggle a little bit with reading.

It warms my heart to see kids so excited about reading they read the books they check out walking down the hallway.

Our school no longer has a library. So we started an after school book club where the students can check out and discuss stories. The graphic novels were the most in demand. The students at our school do not have books at home so I loved being able to give them options for books they could share with their families. We want to expand this club next year so we need more books.

Your donation could help us not only encourage readers who may need encouragement but offer resources to children and their families. These books are funny but also informative-many on our list deal with Texas history and science. You can help inspire the readers of the future!
