My Students

I teach in a self-contained 5th grade classroom. This year I have 22 curious students who love reading. They are a diverse group: GATE (gifted students), Hispanic, African-American, Filipino, Blind, and with other levels of visual impairment. They are kind and work well together and "fill buckets" in and out of the classroom. They understand that struggling is part of the learning process and that we only get smarter if we keep "making our brain sweat".

My students are avid readers and they have been requesting more copies of the series that they love: Diary of a Wimpy Kid, Dork Diaries, Rick Riordan books, 39 Clues, and more graphic novels.

I want to continue this love of reading and have promised to order more books. However, as a teacher we don't have an endless budget for books, which is why I am asking for your donations. My students will be even more excited about our classroom library if it includes more of their favorite books.

My Project

My students love reading and have been requesting more books for our classroom library. These books will fill their curiosity and expose them to a variety of genres. All students should have access to books that they love.

Students should be able to get lost in the tails found in 39 Clues, The Heroes of Olympus, Kristy and the Babysitters Club, and Greg and his friends in the Diary of a Wimp Kid series.

Having these books added to my classroom library will help reluctant readers to find series that interest them and get them more interested in reading. Students will spend less time trying to find books that interest them, if their favorites can be easily found.
