This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
My name is Ms. Kopec and I am a speech-language pathologist. I work with a diverse group of young students in speech therapy, ranging from age 3 through 11 in grades 3K through 5th grade who present with articulation and language disorders.
I started this project in order to provide my students with materials that can help them access the curriculum despite their obstacles.
Many of my students are from low-income families, shelters, immigrants, and have experienced trauma at such a young age. Many of my students are also on the Autism Spectrum and would benefit from materials such as an iPad/computer to access apps that target their specific IEP goals, bean bag chairs when they require sensory input, printer so I will be able to send home materials after each session, and books that will help them reach their reading goals in the classroom. The rolling cart will allow me to organize their materials grade-by-grade and have instant access to send home parent resources! I am asking for your help to show my students that despite their barriers their future is so bright!
