My Students

My students come from a variety of backgrounds and many face struggles and challenges on a daily basis. Included in their daily challenges are often times financial struggles. All of my students receive free breakfast and lunch every school day. My goal is to make the classroom a fun and welcoming environment where they can learn and grow regardless of what goes on outside of school. Even with what these kids face on a daily basis, they come to school with a positive outlook and a love for learning!

With the income restrictions placed on some of the families that I serve, many of my students do not have access to supplies to help them thrive.

My kids love to play, read, move, and everything else that your average elementary student does in a day. I cannot control what goes on outside of my classroom, but I take pride in what goes on inside of it. I want to make sure that my students strive and that they have what they need to be successful and continue their love of learning.

My Project

My students love reading more and more every day. They are regularly coming up to tell me about new books in their favorite series' that they want me to rush out and grab so they know what happens next!

All of the books for this project come from a list of books selected by my students, as well as read-aloud books they can relate to.

I want my classroom library to be their window to the world. This is why we have selected some fiction and non-fiction books. They will learn about some of their favorite historical places, events, and people. They will also be able to open their imagination in the world of Dog Man and Goosebumps. It is my hope that my students will leave third grade with more than just the third grade skills learned, but also love and appreciation of books and the adventures that books will take them on!
