My students come from working class families where parents are often struggling just to make ends meet. The student body encases diverse ethnic groups and a variety of levels of parental involvement. Often support is not available at home and teachers must use as many diverse tools for instruction and assessment as they can find.
In our classroom.
We are striving to create a supportive classroom community where every student can learn and excel. Each member of our classroom is given the opportunity to contribute and participate. Our goal is to foster the whole child with a growth mindset, celebrating progress throughout the year.
My Project
As students return to school, they are once more given the opportunity to read quality books in the classroom each day. Many students' reading skills have slipped during these past months of crisis, and classroom libraries might not have all the levels needed to cover all readers.
These books will help me push each student in their group and independent reading to higher levels as we strive to close the gap created by being away from the classroom.
Each student deserves to be met at their own level and guided to increased progress.
