Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Our school is located in the Arroyo Viejo neighborhood in East Oakland. My students are enthusiastic readers, and absolutely love graphic novels.

I am so proud of my students after a difficult time last year learning virtually on Zoom due to the pandemic.

My Project

These books will help my students grow as readers. Many of the books in this project are graphic novels, which students of many reading levels can access. My students are voracious readers of graphic novels. I have also included some books in Spanish for my students who are learning English, but still need to practice their reading.

Many of these books are reflective of the identities of the students who are in my class, helping center their identities and experience with the books that they have access to in my classroom.

These books would be a wonderful update to my current classroom library.

Every time I bring a new book or books into my classroom, my students are incredibly excited and immediately devour those books.
