This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My classroom is full of energetic and unique students that are not afraid of a challenge. They are in a dual language program and undertake grade level content in English and Spanish. They read, write, speak, and listen across all subjects in both languages!

They push themselves out of their comfort zone everyday with confidence and thoughtful hard work.

I enjoy listening to their creative ideas and admire the perseverance they demonstrate using both languages. They make me very proud.

My Project

My students need books in Spanish! Our classroom library is so small and limited and does not meet their literacy needs. My students need a wide range of books to match their interests, reading levels, and academic needs. These books start to provide for this need. I selected books that are a mix of fiction and non-fiction, chapter books and graphic novels, translations and authentic texts. Above all, I selected books that reflect the interest of my 4th graders.

The main goal of this project is to provide each student with a great independent reading book at all times.

A great book is one that they can understand, learn from, and enjoy. This will pave the way for a love of literacy and life long readers!
