Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Students come from diverse ethnic and socioeconomic backgrounds, representative of New York City. Their various races and backgrounds give the school a vibrant feel of the culture. Students are diverse learners who require different learning styles to accommodate their needs. Within the school day, students are diving into many strategies to master skills, discussing with their peers and participating in many extra-curricular activities. Students are building class charters that they use as a foundation of how they want to feel and the actions they will take forth. All to build on the foundation of kindness and gentleness.

My Project

Students have book baggies but our library is very scarce. Everyday students engage in independent and partner reading sharing their ideas and favorite parts about the stories. Having these books will give students multiple book options for independent reading. With this thriving library students will be able to engage in meaningful discussions about their stories. Students will have various options to choose from for their reading. These books will provide the students with various text on their reading level so that they can grow as readers. My students will be even more excited to visit the library and shop for new books!
