My students need 5 different sets of books, 17 sets of 4 books, plus 64 other books that they are interested in reading. This age is critical in the world of reading as it often determines if children will be readers as adults.

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Do you remember your favorite book as a child? Do you remember those books that changed your opinions, made you smile, or tugged at your heart? My goal is to create a a library full of books for my students that they are begging to get into, on a daily basis.

The students in my classroom are all special needs students ranging from grades 3-5.

They are a group of 12 spectacular kids who need constant reinforcement and engagement in the classroom. The students thrive on discovering new materials in the classroom and I know seeing all of these books will excite them to no end.

My Project

My experience has been that when I provide children with books that will catch their eye, books they have never seen before, and books with engaging titles, children often jump at the chance to read them. I have selected books that offer humor, information on topics my students have asked about before and in many cases books geared toward boys as 11 of my students will be boys again this year.

I have seen the difference powerful books can make in the lives of my students.

I hope you will help me to encourage them to read. With your help my students will reach new personal goals and hopefully become engaged readers not just for this school year but for life.
