This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Reading Corner Part 2! I have been so fortunate to have wonderful people help me start a reading corner for my students next year by donating a new carpet and bookshelves. My only problem now, is that I desperately need new and exciting books to fill the shelves. I teach reading to ESOl students. Ninety percent of my students have only been in this country for a very short time and are extremely eager to learn English. I want to provide them with a print rich environment and a cozy area where they can take a break from the traditional classroom seating to enjoy with a brand new book. My students love and appreciate everything! They come from places where they were taught in classrooms with out electricity and proper school supplies. Many only write in cursive and have no idea how to write in print which it makes it difficult for them to read letters they don't know how to form. Proper Primary handwriting books are essential and many parents cannot afford to buy them because they are not sold at the Dollar store. Please consider donating to my reading corner, I promise it will be an unforgettable gift to my new second grade class. You have no idea how a new reading book and cozy reading area will completely light up their lives. With gratitude.
