Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

The children I work for have a range of academic disabilities, emotional troubles, and trust issues. Working with them calls for a lot of patience and understanding of their needs. The school is a struggling school but it is slowly changing for the better. Structure is really important for them as well as the least amount of distraction as possible.

My class is made up of 12 children that receive free lunch, live in a shelter in the neighborhood or live in housing but they all live in the neighborhood of the school which is not the safest.

Because of the range of grades in this class, the students require a lot of small group instruction and we are very time conscious. To help support their learning needs specific supplies are needed to help the day run smoother and focus more on the instruction given.

My Project

I would like for my students return to school with a strong interest in reading and knowing that the summer is coming and they will have 2 months off I would to supply my students with some exciting books to make sure they don't loose the love for reading we have been building on. During the school the student were so eager to learn different strategies during Guided Reading, strategies they can take from grade to grade.

Continuing to read over the summer, will help them maintain their tool belt of reading strategies they have learned over the school year.
