Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

My students this year are the sweetest, most caring, empathetic, and diligent students who love reading. When it's independent reading time, they always race to my special library to borrow books! They sit quietly, read, and are transported to the world of the book.

However, when my students head on to the leveled library, they frequently book shop for long periods of time and struggle to find books that they are interested in reading.

I want to expand my library by adding books that are interesting to them. My students love reading, but due to some circumstances, not everyone is able to visit an actual library and borrow books on their own time.

This year, students have a goal of reading 25 books by the end of the year, and I want to foster the love of reading in my classroom by updating the classroom library with newer books such as those included in the Roald Dahl collection that I am asking for. Keeping my students engaged with these books and other titles such as, "Odder" and those in the Goosebumps series, will enable my students to enjoy reading while developing important reading fluency and comprehension skills.
