Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students are from the New York metropolitan area with families from diverse cultural and economic backgrounds. They attend a school where the majority of the students receive free or reduced-price lunch.
My students are dedicated and hard-working.
They come to school ready to tackle new challenges. Many of my students require extra support accessing the curriculum due to challenges with reading and writing. Despite requiring additional support in the classroom, my students are incredibly motivated to meet their goals.
My Project
These books will enhance my students' love for reading! They will allow us to work on literacy and language skills while enjoying books with a variety of different themes.
With these new books, my students will be able to engage in literacy-based speech therapy sessions where they can improve their story comprehension and different literacy skills.
All of these books cover a wide range of themes that will allow my students to learn about different topics while improving their speech and language skills. My students have shown great interest in so many of the books when we use videos to read them, so having the physical copy of the books will allow them to really engage with the pictures and the text.
