My Project

This project can be summed up in just one word, books! The books in this project will be used for two purposes. First, filling our classroom library. Most of the students I work with struggle to read. Having a library full of interesting books motivates kids to persevere when the reading gets hard.

The second purpose is to give kids books to take home and own.

Studies show that book ownership directly correlates to higher academic achievement. In my classroom, students get books to own for a variety of reasons, such as, going up a reading level, a birthday, celebrating a milestone, or just because they really are interested in a particular book or series.
