My Students

My students are observant, creative, and curious. They have a ton of energy and a lot of questions!

It is amazing to watch how their minds work, the different perspectives they each have, and how they come together to understand each other.

Many of my students are first-generation American and speak other languages in their homes, often having to translate to their parents. It is rewarding to see them each come in, prepared and eager every day.

I am an ESL teacher in a classroom filled with eager students who need many supports. Our school is a Title 1 school, with limited resources. All of our students qualify and receive free lunch. As teachers, it is our challenge to find ways to give our students what they need with the limited budget that we have.

My Project

These kids love to explore and find new experiences in each book they pick up. By funding this project, you will help me give them these experiences. Through books, we travel to places outside of our classroom to learn through the friendship of Henry and Mudge, the sassy days of Miss Judy Moody, and the troubles Judy Moody goes through every day.

This project will allow my students to practice their reading skills, following characters through series of books.

By giving students choices they like, I will give them a chance to love reading, they way I do.
