Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Students in my class are pioneers of a small community in my school, the dual language program. As the very first cohort to have lessons in both languages through out the day, they have come a long way. My class consists of 50% native English speakers and 50% native Spanish speakers, all of whom love reading in both languages, spending time with one another, asking an endless amount of questions and making each other laugh throughout the day. With your help I will be able to create a classroom that has library filled with present-day English and Spanish books.

My Project

Whenever you get a good book in your hands, its hard to put it down! The goal of this project is to add engaging books to my classroom library so students have fun discussing books during book club meetings and independent reading time. Currently our classroom library consists of many books that are old, ripped and bandaged with tape! Additionally, we are a dual language class with only one shelf filled with Spanish books! With this project I hope to incorporate books that make my students fall in love and never want to put down. I also hope to make use of these books for many dual language classes to come.
