My Students

I am gaining a new experience this year through having the opportunity to teach kindergarten. The kids I have the pleasure to work with have already begun a love for reading.

They view reading books as an adventure each time and are beyond excited when they are able to extract even the tiniest bit of new knowledge!

It is truly a joy to witness, and an even bigger privilege to get to be the person who gets to experience all the excitement alongside them!

The students that walk through my door each day are eager to do just that, engage in not only new knowledge, but also new experiences. They love the adventures we are able to go on together through stories and use those adventures to enlarge their world.

My Project

As I reflect on the current curriculum I hope to provide to my students, I realize that what they truly need is access to more books! I am currently able to enjoy spending my days teaching 17 wonderful kindergarten students.

Their love for books is simply astounding, and it is my hope to only further that love by providing them with greater access to the titles they enjoy.

In my cart, you will see titles such as Koala Lou, The Pout Pout Fish, Caps for Sale, and The Three Billy Goats Gruff. You are probably wondering about the need for multiple copies. As you know, many kindergarten students are not at the point yet where they can read the words to these fantastic story books all on their own. Instead, we read them together as a class and then the students enjoy retelling the story over and over again during their own independent reading time. This proves difficult when I only have one copy of each book.

Imagine that. A class full of students wanting to read, but who simply don't posses ENOUGH books to satisfy them! A great problem to have, but one I truly hope you can find it in your heart to help with!
